Hi! I'm Vickie and I love knitting
« on: July 15, 2017, 11:27:40 AM »
I'm Vickie and I love knitting!

This is my second website, and my second forum. My first website,, was started so that you could have a fun and easy start to knitting.  I even tried to make the instructions as simple and as easy to follow as possible.

In order to make it a little more fun to learn I decided to create some easy knitting patterns. I just want to show everyone how much you can make right in the beginning even as you're learning.  It's so much more encouraging that way.

I'm also very happy to help you as well, although I can't promise that I'll always know the answer.  I do know quite a bit about knitting but not everything.  In fact, I'm still learning more advanced techniques myself.

So Who Am I?

A person who loves knitting and sharing my knowledge with you; a simple gal that enjoys snuggling up in a nice cozy chair, sipping hot chocolate and dabbling in knitting design.

I've been knitting pretty much all my life.  It has always been a comfort food for me, a way to relax and unwind. If I'm not knitting I do love browsing through the latest knitting magazines and books.

Have you noticed how much knitting has changed over the years?  There is always something new.

I have to confess that I do love the Garter stitch....umm, guess you noticed on my knitting stich patters page.

Another big love of mine is knitting yarns.  If there is a yarn shop around you can bet that I'm in there squishing every ball of yarn I can get my hands on.   ;D I just seem to get lost in the rainbow of colors and textures. The funny thing is, I'm not a 'shop til you drop' kind of gal but if you stick me in a yarn shop I'm ........g.....o.....n.....e.....

Why Did I Build a Forum?

For years I have been answering questions from visitors to my website. One day I was talking with a friend who runs a forum board and he suggested I might look into setting one up. I thought that was a great idea. A forum would be a perfect way for all my visitors to have their own community and meet other new or experienced knitters, share ideas, and hopefully meet new friends.

I couldn't add a forum to my site, so I had to setup a separate site just for the forum. But now I'm able to have everything under one site, making it much easier for members to find and discuss things with friends all in one place.

Happy knitting,

Hi Vicky!  My name is Diane, married 18  years with my love Stewart and I've been knitting since I was 5 and I am 72 now.... Crazy about yarns and textures and wow colors and feeling soft fibers and rough bumpy ones, like some long gone ones.  I'm glad I found you, I read some of your bio and I ADMIRE you whoolly balls if you pardon my pun.....I'll think of you as susper woman.  Helping people and loving it!  I'm am presently asking questions here and there about something and I have a hard time expressing myself.
Don't laugh but this has to do with balls, like 1/2 inch balls. I'm not trying to knit balls into sweater front like, but rather looking for only the name of a particular wool that I believe is a sadly discontinued product (quite expensive is probably why) and I cannot get an answer at all.
I would like to find someone to help me with different thing in knitting but for today,I am stumped here and I was wondering if you are the genius who knows what I mean.  I've knit a shorty sweater with it 30 years ago and I still wear it.  I is black and with the white little balls.  All the knitters I've met have asked me about it.  Please help and I will be grateful forever....And that is a long long :-\ time.

Hello Diane.  I simply love yarns and textures and all those beautiful colors. I've been trying  to understand what type of wool you're looking for. You aren't talking about white felted balls are you? Actually they're a handmade wool ball that's used for beading a sweater just like the black one you mentioned. They're called wool felt balls and they're about a half inch in size.

If you're looking for some wool that makes the felted balls then there are quite a few to choose from.  If you're looking for the same wool as your sweater I'm wondering if it's even possible to tell which wool it was that was used. There are so many different wool yarns out there today and to pinpoint exactly which one would be pretty difficult.

Please let me know if I'm on the right track Diane and I'll try to help out.
